Many of the problematic racial narratives we believe have been interwoven into the fabric of our society. These narratives are a part of our news, entertainment, politics, literature, education, art and culture. The patterns that create these biases, be it underrepresentation, negative representation or missing narratives, have shaped the way we perceive the world and ultimately shape how we report.

To help address the disparities in media narratives, journalists, media professionals and community leaders from across the state and surrounding areas gathered at Hamline University for the first ever Truth and Transformation: Changing Racial Narratives in Media Conference.

The workshop was filled with speakers and discussions around the importance of accurate racial and cultural depictions in media.

The Saint Paul & Minnesota Foundations today announced a major milestone: more than $1 billion in giving to communities across Minnesota since the Foundations’ inception over 75 years ago.
