The Saint Paul Foundation believes that communities themselves are in the best position to articulate priorities, and that today’s most pressing issues require collaborative and innovative approaches. To that end, we offer a variety of grant programs to meet the need of the diverse community of nonprofits that serve our region.

The majority of our grantmaking supports racial equity and our six areas of community vitality: Community connectedness; economic opportunity and security; education; health; housing and transportation, and human services and family support.

The primary geographic focus of The Saint Paul Foundation's grantmaking is Dakota, Ramsey and Washington counites.

Focused grantmaking for the East Metro

The F. R. Bigelow Foundation is committed to improving the quality of life and opportunities for all in the Saint Paul area. The Foundation considers grant applications from nonprofit organizations and public entities with a particular emphasis on helping to initiate and sustain programs serving disadvantaged people and communities.

Our primary areas of interest are: Arts; community and economic development; education; health care, and human services.

Our primary geographic focus for grantmaking is the Greater Saint Paul metropolitan area, which includes Dakota, Ramsey and Washington counties, with a particular emphasis on serving people who live or work in the city of Saint Paul.

Grantmaking to improve quality of life in Minnesota

Enhancing the quality of life, inspiring learning, revitalizing communities and promoting access to the arts across the state of Minnesota is our family’s legacy - past, present and future. 

We have established four priority focus areas and will consider proposals that address one or more of these areas: Improving the lives of at-risk families, children, youth and young adults; supporting seniors to live independently; building the capacity of arts and humanities organizations, and supporting community development thorughout Saint Paul.

The geographic focus of our grantmaking is the East Metro area of Dakota, Ramsey and Washington counties, as well as Greater Minnesota.
