Kathleen Schmidlkofer

President and CEO, University of Minnesota Foundation

Kathy is President and CEO of the University of Minnesota Foundation, which is dedicated to engaging the resources of the private sector to build and sustain the excellence of the University of Minnesota, its sole beneficiary. Kathy previously served as Executive Vice President of Greater MSP, a partnership of public and private organizations working to foster economic prosperity in Minneapolis, Saint Paul and the surrounding region. She was also formerly project manager for the Itasca Project, a business-led initiative dedicated to promoting job growth in the Twin Cities region. Kathy brings extensive private-sector experience to her work on behalf of the Twin Cities. As a finance executive with General Mills for 25 years, she held a variety of top-level positions including vice president, finance for the Meals and Yoplait divisions. As vice president, finance for the General Mills Canadian Subsidiary in Toronto, she successfully led the integration of Pillsbury Canada after an acquisition in 2001. Kathy is concerned with more than the economic health of her community. As a volunteer, she supports organizations that help her neighbors achieve personal growth. She currently serves as board chair of Tubman, a regional organization that assists women, children and families struggling with relationship violence, substance abuse and mental health. Kathy also mentors emerging female leaders as a volunteer with Menttium Corporation. Kathy has a bachelor’s in business from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Minnesota, as well as her CPA certificate. She lives in Minneapolis and has many outside interests including adventure travel, golfing, running, sailing and reading.
